Wouldn't call it out-of-character, just his feelings being exaggerated (probably due to something Kratos does that pushes Asura into his berserk form). Given how they've been doing a great job with the storytelling since Season 10, I wouldn't worry. It'll be a fight worth the wait, they got this.
