How badly smashed was the cover and did it hit the stator or magnet? Sounds like a chain slipping on a sprocket. Or a chain rubbing on something.

It wasn’t terrible but most likely bad enough to damage the stator. I’m just concerned with how loud the noise is

I definitely wouldn't fire it up again. I'd pull the stator cover/inspect, drain/inspect/replace oil, replace oil, and try and turn motor by hand. If it hangs up somewhere that's a place to start. I'd also do a compression test.

Yea I’m just not sure I’ll have to check it out but the sound is coming right from the stator but it’s so loud so I don’t know
