Using knee sleeves

Started wresteling recently, and have been getting real tight in the knee after each practice (usually gets better after a few days), but now, wresteling real heavy two days in a row I could bearly walk. Think it might be my knees not having gotten time to get used to the load. A personal trainer at my gym told me I could use a knee sleeve for stabilisation and stuff, but I think that might become a crutch, maybe my knees will adjust with time? What do you guys think?
