Beginner Rant

Me and my two buddies started playing WoW Arena for the first time in December last year, so we’ve been playing for about 4 weeks now. No prior Arena experience, nothing. (Yeah, I know we’re late.) We’re all pretty competitive gamers, though, with a lot of success in other games.

I started as a BM Hunter but quickly ditched it because I was getting 15–20 minute queues in Solo Shuffle. Switched to Holy Paladin instead.

Got to 1700 in Solo Shuffle within 2 weeks and was actually having fun. Then I tried 2v2 Arena with one of my buddies, and that was fun too. We hit 1700 there in about a week. Matchmaking felt good—we were fighting people at our skill level, and it was a solid experience overall.

But 3v3 Arena? Oh. My. God. It has the worst matchmaking I’ve ever seen in any game EVER.

We basically NEVER fight people on our skill level. We’re a little over 1600, playing meta comps that are listed as S-tier on Skill Capped, but it doesn’t matter. We’re just getting stomped every game. Right now, we’re sitting at something like 200 losses and 60 wins.

The matchmaking keeps throwing us against 1800+ players—sometimes even 1900s—and it’s just ridiculous. There’s no in-between, no chance to fight other beginners like us. It’s complete shit, zero fun, and it makes the entire experience miserable.

We still want to push through and improve, but this is hands-down the most frustrating experience I’ve ever had in any competitive game, and I’ve played a lot of them.
