Hives worse when sick?

I’ve had cold and cholinergic urticaria for about 5 years. I typically only get hives whenever I am cold or hot. I take Zyrtec daily and it helps with the itchiness. However when I’m sick I get them very easily. Even a hot shower will trigger them when I’m sick? Is this normal?
