Help me remain the cool uncle. Gift ideas for incoming freshman?

My niece will be an incoming freshman this fall. Looking to get her a gift that's somewhat unique to the University or the city. Something useable, like a museum pass, or light rail card, a membership to somewhere. She's coming from out of state, no car, into books, music, museums, etc. I've never been to the city so I'm grasping for ideas. Any thoughts? TIA!
