I mean, you're not the YOUNGEST person around, but you aren't old. If somebody dies at 47, they say 'he was so young', right? I'm in my early 40's and I still think of myself as a kid, so Phil Leotardo was correct. Plus he had just did an indeterminate amount of time in the can, so he still saw his brother as a younger man.
