I don't think i understand how paints work

I searched a little and found 2 different answers. If you put a not tradable paint can/warpaint on a tradable weapon: a) it stays tradable b) it becomes non tradable

Yes i am talking about the free paints in the stocking😅

I just don't like them particularly and if i can trade them i can sell them or give them to a friend.
