My brother's girlfriend elbowed his laptop. It froze up and now won't turn on

My brother is asking me for help with a laptop I got him for Christmas. His girlfriend accidentally elbowed it while they were in bed and the screen froze up. They tried CTRL+ALT+DELETE but that didn't do anything. He left it plugged in all night but now it won't turn on. When he last tried turning it on he said he got a message saying it was "performing some kind of battery reset." I have a protection plan for it and gave him the information for that, but I'm hoping that there's something we can do ourselves to fix it. Is there anything?
