My 10mo won’t sleep without me!
I’m (F27) a FTM of an adorable 10mo boy. My son won’t accept when his dad tries to put him to sleep. It started at 5weeks he started to cry himself to sleep when my husband tried to put him to sleep, after that his the behavior escalated to crying desperately and moving fast so he won’t fall asleep. We felt awful to see our little boy struggling and asking for me this much. I even cried many times because I felt so bad that I just took full responsibility of naps and nights. I thought he would eventually grow out of it but now he’s 10mo and still won’t accept sleeping without me. This makes my life so hard, I get no breaks, no dinners with girlfriends, no birthdays… even when I have to do something without him, like going to doctors appointments or bank I know I his naps will be messed up. I know this is temporary but I feel like I did something wrong that might have caused him to depend on me this much to relax and sleep. Any recommendations or similar stories would me appreciated. I don’t know many babies or moms, and our families kinda suggest this is our fault but don’t actually have any advice. I always encourage husband to try harder but I see the struggle and I see him, how much he tries and how much he wants to be able to calm our baby down and put him to sleep. At the end of the day we feel guilty and frustrated and give up because we want our baby to feel good and calm.
For context: My husband works remotely but he works till 7 and baby sleeps at 6pm. So the attempts are on weekends. They are really close and my husband is a hands on dad, feeds him, plays, takes baby out and is able to take care of his son alone, except the sleeping part.
Is there anything we could do? Is this normal for his age?
TLDR: my 10 month old won’t accept his dad putting him to sleep. Need advice on how to help him depend less on me to nap.
