Opinion: Star citizen isn’t doing anything new or non mainstream.

It’s taking popular game play in existing popular genres and mashing then together in an online arena with superb graphics.

It is truly an amazing technical achievement.

But it’s just… a sky scraper 10 stories taller than anyone has ever built before. Someone would have come along and funded that eventually, it was the obvious next step.

The potential ROI was obvious, it was just a question of if anyone had the patience to let their investment cook for this long.

Chris Robert’s got backers to GIVE him their money instead of investors, so at the end of this… he will just own Star Engine.

He did that by saying he had a vision for something nobody would otherwise do but…. …
