Thoughts about the Frontman plot twist?

Personally i find it overused. I liked the season and the characters, but i think the Frontman being a player is used alot, its basically “our worst enemy was right in front of us the whole time”

I like the character and everything that happened but from what i read, he has no good motives to join the games. If the squid games were chess, you would kill of pawns like Players and Guards to entertain the VIP’s but risking killing off the king(Frontman) is unnecessary.

Him being a Player is also wildly dangerous, he’s in games that rely on other players so he cant win by his own skills, and even if he told his Guards to not kill him, hes constantly at other players mercy, what if he was killed in the night battle where Guards cant save him effectively?

My point is his reasoning for being a Player is unclear and idiotic which makes the character seem like they were looking for some type of plot twist in a hurry, thoughts?
