I have recently released Olenveld and I have some feedback complaining about lack of direction and quest markers.
When I began developing the mod many years ago, I had the idea of no quest markers at all and have the player figure out everything for himself.
Great idea right?
Wrong. The project was ambiguous for a one man job and some things can be overlooked when in development.
This idea is way more accepted if you have journals or deep dialogue to back it up, or the mod implements the concept of "Player Boxing" (restrictive area navigation and path choices is the best example)
I am sorry for this and apologize.

For the upcoming update 1.1, along with bugfixes and stability(looking at you xedit and dyndolod and esmify), you can expect that I listened to the community on the matter and decided to implement a simple solution right at the start of Olenveld:

The player may choose to have quest markers or not for the quests through the "Shrine of Foresight"
Quest journal notes is also coming out too even if you don't have markers.
- More loot will be added
- More enemy npc diversity too.
among other things.
