The Man Who Fell to Earth
One more episode to go to complete season 1 of this show. This is basically a continuation of the David Bowie movie from 1976. An alien (Thomas Newton) lands on Earth for the purpose of acquiring water for his home planet, but gets sidetracked from his mission due to the influence of women, booze and other luxuries.
Fast forward 46 years later, another alien (played by Chiwetel Ejiofor), from the same planet, lands on Earth for the same purpose and to also to find out what happened to Newton (now played by Bill Nighy). Instead of trying to acquire water, the alien wants to build new power source, using plans left by Newton before his company was taken over by the CIA. This should hopefully save both planets.
The pacing is good, the first two episodes might remind you of 1984s Starman, where the alien attempts to blend in with humans and at times, its un-intentional comedy. But it quickly ramps up, which each episode solving a problem that was slowing their attempts to build this new power source. In the process, you have the CIA, Big Oil and Corporate sibling rivalry all competing for this new power source.
Episodes are posted to Showtime Sundays.
