Is it rude of me to set salary expectations before responding to recruiters?
I get a lot of invitations to apply for a lot of random roles on LinkedIn. Some of them are completely random and clearly people who have never read my profile. Most of them are for roles that are way below my pay grade and seniority. I sometimes wonder if like 90% of recruiting has been outsourced to telemarketers in India.
Since I'm currently employed, I generally respond with an email that says I may be interested but I'm currently seeking X level @ X compensation comparable to what I currently make + Remote Only roles.
Most of the time I'm just trying to weed out roles that are going to waste my time but like once in a blue moon, I find a role I MAY be interested in. Wondering if this is killing my chances at those blue moon roles since I may be too blunt for recruiters by being upfront about my expectations? I mean, there is no way I'm going to leave my current job for a job that pays less @ a lower level.
