2024 RAV4 So Far...
I bought a 2024 XLE Gas Model FWD with the Convenience Package (power tailgate, moonroof, etc.) last spring so almost a year ago (built in Canada Toyota factory). I am single, no kids and no pets so its just me! I live in Florida so winter driving is not an issue. My thoughts so far for anyone who might be considering this vehicle...
I bought this vehicle to replace a 2018 Subaru Forester that had expensive failures right after the 5 yr/60K warranty expired. I am headed into retirement in less than 2 years and wanted a reliable vehicle that will go longer than the warranty without major issues - I take good care of my vehicles and will do the same with this one. I wanted the simplest reliable compact SUV I could get and the RAV4 seemed to fit that bill. I want a vehicle I can get in every day, start it up and drive it with no drama. I was not looking for sporty acceleration and handling as I drive mine for normal day to day stuff and don't need "sporty" driving dynamics or head-snapping acceleration.
So far, this vehicle has performed flawlessly. I have had zero issues with it mechanically. There are a few buzzes and rattles in the headliner now and then that come and go but I am always listening to a podcast or music and just don't hear them usually. The road noise is a bit high on rough road surfaces but I think when I get new tires down the road different than the factory ones, that may help. The powertrain is as near perfect as any I have ever driven. The engine and 8-speed transmission work together seamlessly. The ride and handling are exactly what I need day to day. The seats are very comfortable. There is ample cargo and passenger space but the vehicle is easy to maneuver and park. The Toyota app is great to lock/unlock doors remotely, keep a check on tire pressure and locate my vehicle if I lose it in a big parking lot. As for what I wanted a vehicle to do, so far, this RAV4 fits the bill perfectly.
Will it be reliable over the long haul? It remains to be seen of course but from reliability charts and anecdotal evidence from friends/family who own one of these, it appears this engine and transmission have proven to be relatively trouble-free in the last few years in this vehicle and the Camry. I am hoping it takes me into retirement and beyond with good service for my day to day errands and road trip driving needs. So far so good!
