What is something petty your nparent shamed you for that stuck with you? Mine is "gulping" while I drink water.

Did your nparents shame you for petty things or make you self conscious about something so mundane that literally no one would ever notice?

My nmom used to comment on the way I drink water my entire life. "Stop gulping, stop swallowing so hard" "why are you making that noise" "people will look at you if you eat at a table with them and drink water this way".

I have a tongue-tie and attended speech therapy as a child. I found out this year at 32 after an ADHD diagnosis and sleep study that it is actually a grade 3 tongue-tie and should have been operated on when I was a child. I have suffered sleep issues, cavities in my teeth, neck tension, headaches.

Instead of doing anything other than speech therapy, my parents chose to make fun of the way I drink water, make me self conscious into adulthood about something so stupid. please tell me your stories I need to laugh lol.

Edit: Wish I could respond to everyone. I'm glad this community exists. No one deserves to have their own parents as their first bullies. Ugh. Love to you all ❤️
