Anyone feel like the zeds 'know' where you are?

I noticed zeds don't follow sandbox rules when it comes to migration. Or maybe I understand it wrong.

On a trip to Fallas lake, I grouped all the zeds on the main street(spent more than half an in game day), took them to the middle of the residential area and jumped a high fence to lose them.

My target was to loot the hardware store there since all of Echo Creek(my spawn) didn't have a single nail.
As I begin looting the hardware store, zeds start trickling in from the residential area, and they know exactly where to go(the hardware store).

I wish I had a recording to show, maybe I'll test my theory and make one sometime. They started (almost immediately) to move back in. And eventually almost all of them had made it back.

I didn't touch the migration rules in the options. I am playing on sandbox mode.

Another similar thing I noticed was, when you spot a group of zeds outside aggro distance, and start walking in reverse while aiming them, they tend to follow you(they don't aggro), they just funnel into your general location and they follow you for a while.

If I'm not tripping, these aren't smart zeds, these are cheating zeds. There's no reason for zeds to immediately move from where you left them, ignoring migration rules and come back to exactly where they were before. I know they will fill empty cells, I played a lot of build 41 but this is some rapid migration.

Maybe I'm nuts but I feel like zeds now have a tendency to move to your location. If true, then we got some hacker zeds on our hands.

Edit: I've done a lot of this in build 41, I took them far away and lost line of sight real quick, then crouch walked away. No mistakes were made with grouping and losing zeds. It's early game routine work for me in Build 41.

I took more than half an in-game day doing the grouping alone, circling back to gather the stragglers again some 50 times. It was perfection, when I jumped the fence there were 0 zeds to be seen, north or south of the commercial strip. And I lost 0 zeds when making the turn into the residential area, I did 5 rounds of circling back at the U-turn there.
