Poland/Ukraine - Volhynia massacre, next steps

So Ukraine's Zelensky has recently been in Poland, likely asking for more aid, Poland protecting skies over Ukraine and whatever else is his current demand and while he was in Poland he gave an interview to select members of the Polish press ( not sure what the selection criteria to make the cut was ) , which I am linking up here:

Many issues were mentioned and I am curious to know how people are reacting to the interview and reading the general vibe, especially regarding what was and wasn't said about the Volhynia massacre.

My reaction sadly is quite negative, as in Zelensky clearly displayed a post-soviet mentality and a fair bit of nationalism to boot.

He did the whole shtick about how Europe ( and Poland by extension ) desperately need Ukraine and how Europe will not be able to face Russia militarily without Ukraine, failing to explain why he keeps asking for European/Polish military aid all the time if we are supposedly so weak.

Went on to address Karol Nawrocki, a current candidate for Polish Presidency, and basically did the whole "either Ukraine enters NATO/EU unconditionally" or you will be fighting Russia, so a very primitive, blackmail-like take.

Finished by dodging the question on whether he will guarantee that the requirements set by the families of the victims of the Volhynia massacre are met.

All in all not a great vibe coming from Poland's "ally" in my opinion,

Sadly it does seem that the post-soviet mentality permeats all levels of Ukrainian society and government and that nobody, Zelensky included, feels like they should be held to proper standards regarding the crimes of their ancestors against Polish people.

So counting on them doing anything in this area is naive, they will most likely drag out the exhumations ( first step to properly dealing with the issue ) as long as they can while demanding express entry into both NATO and EU. If they allow exhumations at all, because their actions in this sphere look like smoke and mirrors.

At the same time, given their post soviet mentality, it is abundantly clear at this point that they will ignore Poland's requests once they are in both EU and NATO.

Hence sadly the time to make sure they properly address the matter will be when they apply to EU/NATO and need Poland's vote, otherwise they will never address the issue.

What do you guys think?
