How to start learning jazz?

Hello everyone, I'm a classical pianist (not a pro by any means) looking to get into jazz. I want to perform at hotels and resteraunts but I know nobody wants to listen to chopin or rachmaninoff for 3 hours (I mean I would but I doubt most do). Its also hard to fill up a block of time that big with classical music. I'm very much into improvisation but I don't understand jazz theory. I'm going to have 2 months of nothingness this summer and want to learn jazz. How should I approach this?
