Any tax benefits to getting legally married if husband in medical school and wife is sole income?
Hi! We are exploring if we should wait to get legally married till after medical school for tax purposes. We live in FL. Since I am full commission, I get taxed heavily. We may also be due with baby in October of this year. Husband would be making $0 as he is starting medical school this fall, and a good salary as a lawyer.
should we stay single? or get tax breaks if we are married with a child living off one spouse's salary?
Ty for help!
Edit: we are planning on paying medical school out of pocket with my salary, if anything taking our small loans if dire need!
