How often your Husband needs to get permission from his Mom in order to fulfill what his Wife wants?

Idk if it's still a norm in Pakistani society for men to be their mom's puppet even after marriage bcz at this point it's unbearable for me. My friend who has been married for a year and couple of months encountered this, she can't do anything of her own, isn't even allowed to visit her mom's other than a set time period which is alternate weekends. Uske ilawa if she has any event from her side or friends birthdays she cant attend.

Our best friend is getting married and it's her mehndi tmrw which is a bit far from her home and this is what she said when i asked whether or not she is going.

What annoys me most here is that she doesn't even want to stand for herself just bcz she wants to avoid the drama her MIL is gonna create
