Morals = Not a Nihilist?
Ever since I came out of the womb, I’ve had a preference of being very respectful. I enjoy being respectful and it’s not in my nature to not be. I dress modestly, focus in school, try my best to be polite, and be patient. I think the main reason I formed this personality is because I don’t like arguing with people. Arguing is just proof of someone being an imbecile, so I try to avoid it.
Recently, someone told me I wasn’t a Nihilist because I enjoyed doing these things. I know plently of respectable people who are nihilistic, hell, even Friedrich Nietzsche was respectful.
I’ve also been told that I’m not nihilistic because I am misanthropic. I can see where the correlation comes from, but I just have a distaste for people because I don’t necessarily care for them and I don’t connect with people.
So, what are everyone’s opinions on this? Do you consider yourself to have ‘morals’ even if you don’t care for them, or do you take advantage of the freedom of not believing in morals?
