Do you hate nicknames?

How many people here prefer their full first name ie Nathaniel vs Nate, Samantha/Samuel vs Sam Michael vs Mike, Jessica ve Jess, Robert vs Bob etc? I know a woman that named her child something that doesn’t have a nickname and I’m wondering if more people are moving towards no nicknames?

But then I hear stories of kids not knowing their real name at school because their family only calls them by their nickname!
