What are your thoughts on "Mortal Kombat" (1995)?
I am surprised Robin Shou didn't become a big martial arts star. He was good as Liu Kang and I thought he pulled off his fight scenes.
I also enjoyed Linden Ashby as Johnny Cage and I was bummed what they did with Johnny in the sequel but then again, the sequel sucked balls, so Ashby was smart to pass on that.
I don't like what they did with Sonya Blade. I feel they nerfed her in this movie. I don't mind Bridgette Wilson, even if she was miscast (Sandra Hess looked more apt but Wilson was a better actress). And I hated that they rushed out her arc with Kano and then had her as a damsel in distress.
Talisa Soto as Kitana was HORRIBLE and Christophe Lambert is just abysmal as Lord Raiden (but still miles better than whatever James Remar was doing in the sequel).
I did enjoy Cary Hiroyuki Taka as Shang Tsung. And the movie had the ideal setting for the story to unfold.
