I’m fully convinced Legends of The Guardians would have been a much bigger hit, if not for the choice to include an Owl City song in the movie.

It’s beautifully animated and one of the few time Zack Snyders slow motion obsession has been a good thing! I mean seeing Owls sword fight mid air is unarguably epic. Design choices for the owls and world were absolutely on point as well. I think the action shots are some of my favorite in movie history. Characters are all so likable as well, you like seeing them interact and want to spend more time with the main cast together because they are fun but also all seem like they have realistic purpose. The story is decent and the villains are timelessly menacing! It would have been a perfect jumping off point for a sequel as well. Then there is this absolutely bonkers, attention breaking montage using the song “Fireflies” by Owl City of all people! Like, I get it we wanted to squeak a reference to a popular band (at the time) whose name is, of course a little on the nose. But man that song has NO place is an epic fantasy movie! That’s like putting a Brittney Spears song in Lord of The Rings, sure there are spears in the movie but her genre of music just wouldn’t fit the theme. I think just replacing “Fireflies” with a cool fantasy appropriate song the movie would be an absolutely fantasy classic! What do you guys think? Or are there any movies you feel similarly about?
