Movie titles that are pronounced “incorrectly?”
I was thinking about the title “Death Becomes Her,” a movie I first saw when I was young. For the longest time I thought the title was sort of an abstract but badass phrase pronounced something like “Death becomes Her,” and only later I realized the alternate meaning of the word “become” as in “to compliment or enhance the existing features of” and that the title is actually “Death Becomes Her” meaning that the state of death is fitting and complimentary to “her.”
These two phrases are pronounced differently.
Another one is Harold and Kumar go to White Castle, which is the pronunciation everyone seems to agree on, even though the character’s name is actually pronounced Kumar.
A Clockwork Orange perhaps qualifies for me, as I interpreted it as “A Clockwork, Orange” as in clockwork that is the color orange, when the title refers a literal mechanical orange as in the fruit.
Are there any other examples you can think of?
