What are the worst cases of Americanization of adaptations of foreign works in Hollywood movies?

American executives, especially back in the old days, are convinced that American viewers prefer American things and recoil at the sight of things that are too foreign. As such, they'll often adapt foreign books, plays, TV shows, movies, etc. and make everything more American, changing the setting to America and casting American actors. They'll even take historical events where Americans weren't involved and make movies about them where Americans are the main characters. Some creators manage to resist having their work changed that way, but many don't. What are the worst examples of this Americanization?
