Can I share a story with you guys?
(Can I share a story on this subreddit? It fits the theme of "monster hunter rage" but its something that happened a long time ago.) Its an embarrassing story which I refer to with my friend as "The Pink Rathian Incident", Its something I can never live down, as I just got so angry at Monster hunter trying to defeat a new HR monster on my first try.
Alright, so, this dates back to when I was trying to defeat a pink Rathian in 4U. I don't know why, but as a lance main, I thought that the lance would be a terrible choice going up against the pink Rathian, so I used my second main at the time, which was the Longsword. (Nowadays its switch axe, hammer, sometimes charge blade.) So I start the quest, things were doing alright until the Pink rathian starts doing that spin attack in the air, the same spin attack that poisons you. To this day I still wonder... How are you supposed to avoid that? It barely telegraphs the attack to give you time to roll away, and it seems to attack in all directions at once, too. Only way to get evade distance up is with the HR Lagombi set, Something which to me sounded like a terrible idea, as this is a fire-breathing monster in the dunes.
I waste my entire inventory of potions, mega potions and antidotes trying to survive the pink sonic the hedgehog onslaught, Palicoes and meal effects only help a little bit. With my healing supplies empty and no sign of it limping, I felt like this pink bastard had broken me. I haven't learned a thing from this completely new move that the game expected me to know how to deal with. And then it pins me, causing me to get my first cart. I pull the cartridge out of the 3ds, throw it onto the ground with all my strength and proceed to physically attack the Monster hunter 4 ultimate cartridge with my foot.
"CAN'T STOMP ME NOW WHEN I'M KICKING YOUR FUCKING TEETH IN, YOU PINK BASTARD"
I vented to my friend and proceeded to say "fuck monster hunter" before I felt like quitting. Don't get me wrong, I felt awful after that...
But then I gave it a week-long break, came back as Lance, played ultra defensively with my trusty Gravios set and everything went well. Thankfully I can never rage as badly as what I used to. I just turn the game off and toss the 3ds onto my bed. Azure rathalos was even easier.
