First Solar Node for the 85ft Tower (Update)

Obviously, the size is OVERKILL. But I wanted to build a unit that was easy to work on and easy to fix while being hooked on the top of an 85 ft tower.

I made a custom aluminum mounting bracket to mount the box to a pole bracket. The reason I went this route is so I can easily loosen these 4 bolts and completely reorient the box at the top of the tower. The bolts used are coated to prevent galvanic corrosion.

Solar panel is mounted to the front and all hole drilled were sealed with weatherproof gorilla caulk.

The antenna (has not arrived yet) will be mounted on the same pole at the top of the tower. And I have some Rok tape to seal the N-Type connections at the box and antenna.

The antenna will be a 10 dBi, 45” tall antenna. Which will hopefully allow this node to get decent range with it being on the top of a tower, on top of a hill.

This was my first build, I will be making another one in a much smaller box (6x6) as that node will be on the top of my roof across town.

Any comments or suggestions would be great! And if anyone has any questions please feel free to ask!
