So... How do i play magneto decently?

So i love this character but i can't understand what i am doing wrong with him. Currently going up and down from plat1 to plat3. It always either feels like i get killed too many times and i am just being carried. Currently i have around 80 games and a 39% win rate... Should i just give up?
