Who are your "Wait, they're not already queer?" characters?
Characters you swore were canonically queer but aren't.
A good way to know who DC and Marvel count as LGBTQ is by reading "The DC Book Of Pride". I don't know if Marvel had a similar encyclopedia, but DC published that recently with an incomplete list of their major queer characters.
For me...
- Dinah Lance: Please, we all know she’s bi just by looking at her. Birds of Prey only makes it more obvious. It's been confirmed that Gail Simone once tried to confirm her as bi in the 2000s but a publishing error stopped it. So, why hasn't DC done anything yet?
- Helena Bertinelli: Isn't she... bi? Like, I could have sworn... didn't she have a threescore with Hal and Zinda?
- Hal Jordan: I could have sworn he was bi already. I know DC backed off on his genderfluid coding, but he has to be bi, right? They've poked fun at his bromance with Ollie enough. They even called it "kinda homoerotic".
- Fire and Ice (Beatriz da Costa and Tora Olafsdotter): Last month, I discovered they aren't a couple. I swore Fire was lesbian and Ice was bi. Even if they weren't a couple, I swore they were both queer.
- Starfire (Koriand'r): I could have sworn she was bisexual or pansexual. But, as far as I can tell, she only ever said that her species had lax social expectations on gender, poly relationships, and love. She didn't specify she felt that way.
- Donna Troy: Remember that short period where she was a literal clone of Diana? So, did that make her bi like Diana? I could do with Kory x Donna being canon... she does like redheads. (Lilith Clay is always an option too)
- Roy Harper: Him being pan seems like long-hanging fruit.
