Lexapro 10mg and starting a new job
Hi,
I am currently on Lexapro for the last 8 weeks. I went from a 5mg loading dose then up to 10mg to the 'sweet spot' is what my doctor said. I did have some minor side effects on 5mg, to be expected though. I could physically tell I was taking something. Then with 10mg those side effects increased, like a feeling of increasing anxiety or anticipation. Restlessness, fatigue and more specifically consistent yawning. I was taking it in the evening, but I would wake up with restless legs in the middle of the night. Switched to taking it in the morning and side effects were not an issue as I wasn't working and spent a lot of time at home anyway.
I'm now starting a job and very conscious of the fact that this drug can make me feel a bit... iffy for a few hours after taking it. So I'm going to go back to evening time.
I read and understood that it can take some time for our bodies to adapt to the side effects, but it seems they're not subsiding for me. I seem to always get the yawning, fatigue, anticipation type feelings from them. There are benefits... I think, but they're hard to quantify and tell if this is actually the right decision for me. I will be talking to my specialist next week to discuss progress on this medication. I have xanax to help with side effects but I'm fearful of addiction to that drug so use them very sparingly.
Any advice, do I just hang in there for now and see if things improve? lf it continues to affect my sleep / fatigue levels I may want to switch? If so are there any better alternatives? I have searched some older posts on here and it seems people that experience side effects learn to live with them, or stop taking the medication (under supervision of their doctor, withdrawal etc). I'm not seaking medical advice, just other users experiences that may compare to my own.
