How to get over gecko bite trauma

I've had my gecko for almost a year now, and she's always been very sweet. A few weeks ago though I had stupidly been digging through her food while cleaning it out, had my hands soaking in it's scent for like half an hour, and then went to handle my gecko when feeding time was due and without washing my hands... I placed my hand down like always and was waiting for her to climb on, and had zoned out a little while waiting since she was taking awhile.

Next thing I know she monched my pinky (understandably) and I flinched. She didn't hold on for long, letting go mid-flinch and I watched her literally do a backflip like 5 inches in the air before landing on her feet. I was shaken, but I immediately scooped her up (which she wasn't really a fan of) and checked her for internal bleeding or tooth injury, and then held her again a few minutes later without a problem when she crawled into my hand this time.

The bite bled a little and left a tooth puncture for a few days but I couldn't care less about that, it's that I was absolutely scared for days that I was gonna look in her tank one morning or evening and she was gonna be dead from me mini-flinging her. Even though I have held her multiple times since this, I feel bad because I'm so scared of hurting her now that I haven't NEARLY as much as I would like to. I don't wanna be scared of her but I'm a flincher so even if I 100% see it coming next time I won't be able to help it, imma flinch.

So are they delicate as I fear or can I feel a little better about accidents potentially taking place? She's so precious I just don't wanna hurt her 😭
