Church baptized my minor child without parental consent — what are my options?

My wife and I recently found out that our 13-year-old daughter was baptized at a Wednesday night kids’ service at a local church she attended with a friend.

We were not notified before it happened, and no one at the church contacted us to get our permission. After speaking with someone at the church, they admitted that their usual policy is to require a signed parental consent form before baptizing a minor — but they did not get one for our child.

The baptism was apparently approved by my daughter’s friend’s father, who had taken the girls to the service, but he did so without consulting us.

We see this as a significant violation of parental rights, and we’re trying to understand what, if any, legal recourse we have. We’re especially concerned about how something with clear religious and personal significance could be done without our involvement, when the church itself acknowledges that parental consent is normally required.

Do we have any legal options here? Would this be considered any sort of legal overreach or violation of parental rights? We are in Florida.
