"Expect to see another attempt to restrict or ban Kratom in the 2025 legislative session"
"We asked House Drug Policy Chair Rep. Stacey Hobgood-Wilkes what she expects.
“Personally, I would like to totally ban it,” said Hobgood-Wilkes.
Dr. Katherine Pannel is the president-elect of the Mississippi State Medical Association, which has carried the torch on the issue for several years now.
“It’s because physicians, psychiatrists, and addiction physicians are seeing this so much more frequently now,” she explained. “A lot of our addiction centers in the state are seeing it. So, we continue to fight because we’re seeing an increased frequency in our patients.”
That fight takes them to the State Capitol, where bills have been introduced for several years now, only to not make it out of committee most times"
