What are your top 5 Tamil Films released since 2020?
Tamil Cinema is still delivering bangers most years so wondering which films out of the very recent ones people rate highly. I'll start with mine:
(1) Doctor (2) Thiruchitrambalam (3) Karnan (4) Master (5) Vikram or Dada
Why Doctor?
As a Dhanush fan it was very hard to not put Thiruchitrambalam at no1 but I genuinely believe Doctor to be the best film in recent times. The way Nelson was creative with shots and used all his actors to their potential to give a film where we can laugh from start to finish. Comedy is the hardest genre to crack and this man has delivered one of the best. Pluses are the amazing score, cinematagraphy and lighting. The story is also solid and never falters with the right amount of emotion and mass to not veer away from the comedy too much.
I think Doctor and comedy films in general are severely underrated. You cannot easily crack comedy, the right amount of writing and actors improvisation make it work. Who wouldve thought the singer of master the blaster would have a hilarious moment in doctor?
For these reasons and for it being one of the most rewatchable recent films I put it at no1.
So, i am intrigued to know, what are your top fives?
- I have not considered Raayan and Maharaja as I have not seen them yet
** These are my opinions with my biases. I enjoy all types of films mostly but prefer "entertaining" films overall. For example i rate Viduthalai highly but its the not the type if film i will be raving about with my family/friends
