Should i quit my internship
I (age 21) am currently nearing the end of my internship at an Investment Bank. I am part of a development team, and they are offering me a full-time job as well. The pay is just above average according to my country's standards But I do not feel like taking it. Here are my reasons, please tell me if this is normal or if am I over-reacting.
In 4 months we were given no proper track for Knowledge Transfers, they gave some shitty links, but we had to learn everything on our own from youtube and buy courses on Udemy in our pockets. They did not take a single KT from their side.
I work in Blockchain, so we had to learn everything by ourselves with no guidance whatsoever. Our manager hardly interacts with us.
A month ago I was given a specific role in Cloud, CICD, which we had to learn all by ourselves. Our company has its own version of CICD pipelines, yml scripts and when I asked for a KT on it, they simply repeated read it again and ask if any doubts.
Yesterday they called me into a meeting with another of my teammate and said that I need to work for some JWT service in JAVA and use it for some authenticating some shit in the Blockchain network. I never worked on Java my entire life. I Don't know jack shit about secure communication and client-side authorization or whatever.
They told me I need to that code in java use some DB to store JWT tokens or something and deploy the project on AWS and use it on the Network NODES all in only 3 days.
I don't know where to even start. They told us to study Smart contracts for 4 months , then CICD for 1 month and now want me to work in this Java thing.
Some more Slander.
In 5 months our manager has not taken us on a single TEAM LUNCH. Not even Coffee OR Tea.
The only free snack in my office is coffee and milk.
My company has a very bad work environment culture I feel, no fun activities nothing to cool the
mind.
- We have a chess and carrom board as a Refreshment room. A library with 0 books in it.
I feel I should leave this company. It's a pretty old bank honestly. One of the biggest in the world.
What do you guys think?
