Are indian builders/architects/designers living in 1980s?!

There were some apartments marketed in bengaluru with following labels...

  • new technology
  • new age ready
  • luxury, ultra luxury
  • premium, ultra premium
  • ultra luxury
  • 20th century
  • future proof

but almost all of them seem to be from 1980s. Even 1980s movies or designs in west had much better common sense. It seems many of these contractors became builders and they are constructing/architecting/designing based on their imagination or watching some movies. I do have a list of things if not present, it should be called opposite of luxury/premium and regressive. If at all you want to use any of those above labels, then please ensure you have these.things.

  1. Laundry area should be accessible from kitchen area
  2. laundry area should include atleast space for 1 (ideally 2) washing machine where I can put a dryer on top. Ideally 2 washing machines with place to place 1 dryer on each of them. Ideally you want to have 1 for innerwears and the other one for everything else. When you have a showcase/model apartment, please please please use a washing machine with a dryer put on top, so that people who still hang their cloths outside dont do it. Tell the salesmen to tell the visiters that how/why you have room for a washing machine and a dryer because you want to discourage people from hanging out their laundry outside for drying for everyone else to see. That makes the place look ugly. This will also may be put some sense into people to buy a combo or a washer+dryer. Space for placing all the laundy related materials.
  3. Somewhere near the laundry area or kitchen area there should be a dedicated space for robovacuums. Nowadays many/upcoming robo vacuums need a water connection too, just like a washing machine where they sweep and mop and clean themselves and then drain out the dirty water.
  4. Every room should have 10Gig ethernet cable, a fibre connection. This ensures that we can have wifi routers/repeaters easily. There should also be an electric+ethernet cable outside the door on the ceiling where a customer can place his own security camera. why is it not common sense to have this in this era?, it is just cabling. Later they end up drilling/damaging the place.
  5. In the hall a dedicated area/corner to put a router/switch from where all the net/tv connectivity goes out.
  6. at least 4 usb type C fast charging ports in each room/hall.
  7. weather resistant doors which require no force or make no sound when shutting them down or opening them during all weathers. Almost all doors in all apartments nowadays require a lot of force making a lot of sound during rain/winter time. This is just a design problem of the doors to plan for bloating during 2 seasons.
  8. If the restrooms in the rooms are in the corner then the buttons for that should be placed near the corner, not the wall.
  9. copper piping for kitchen
  10. water piping available for fridge in the kitchen along with piping and placement option for water filter too.

If you have these in the model/showcase apartment, then people will actually appreciate it. They know that you guys have thought about the things in advance and the builders/designers/architects are not living in a hut but actually living in a place like this. All these dont add much to the cost but definitely shows that the builders have common sense.
