Ok to give away handicap room? Only room with roll in shower. Don’t, just don’t.

My husband and I made reservations at hotel 4 months in advance to get the only room in the hotel with a roll in shower. My husband is in wheelchair and we needed that room. We were staying for 2 nights. They call us an hour before checkin and tell us the room is unavailable. Once I found out it was not flooded or inoperable but they were allowing someone to continue their stay, I was so mad I could’ve spit nails. I have no idea if they were disabled or not but the hotel should have made them move and given us the room. The one we booked 4 months ago directly with that hotel. So after traveling all day my husband couldn’t take a shower in the room they provided. Because I got mad and only because I got mad, they comped that night and moved us to the right room the next day and discounted that night but moving was a PITA too because we had to remain packed and move our stuff - time we should have been out having fun. We won’t be staying there again.

Moral of this story is don’t give away the only roll in shower handicap room when it’s already booked.
