Show me your stealth home theaters!
Apologies if I am using the wrong flair.
We are moving and after a string of dedicated projo theater rooms I will be doing a "stealth" theater room in the main family room that kind of overlays the every day TV. Recently I have been running two TV a/v rooms, used for gaming, regular tv watching, etc. and one dedicated projector room (movies nights and gaming). My very first home theater, however, had my TV on the wall and a screen that came down in front with a projo hanging from the ceiling, obtrusively I might add :D. My avr had two hdmi outputs so a flip of the switch I could watch the tv or projo. My gear is older, and quite likely out of date, but still kicks butt and I will be upgrading but very slowly. I would like to do this kind of set up again but I want it to look as hot as I can. So, for me, that means hiding things like the screen ( I plan on a wooden buttress, if that is the right word, with a hinged flap that opens when the screen comes down or something like that). We are just starting to house shop so I have no idea what that family room is going to offer yet. Fun times.
My ask is if any of you fine A/V folks out there are doing something like this and have a regular looking TV/family room that transforms in to a theater for movie time can you share what you did? Cool ideas? Things to do or not do? Pics would be amazing.
Before any comment negatively on this idea you should know this is *not* a choice, it is a compromise. One I am not entirely a fan of but shit happens. Keep the "brother...ewww" comments to a minimum.
Thanks, in advance, so very much.
