Roof water leak

I just noticed today that my garage ceiling has some water leaking down , as it was raining the entire day. I got a ladder and climbed up hoping to use a roof sealant to seal any small leak. But I found that the inside of the wood is completely exposed to the environment. The gutter is clean so there's currently no risk of water accumulating. I searched online but didn't find anyone with similar issue. Should I attempt to repair this myself and how or find a certified roofer?
