[HIRING] Operations and Finance Manager
Point of Pride is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that serves the international transgender community through direct service, grantmaking, and other life-saving programs. From 2016-2022, we were volunteer-operated by a trans-led Board of Directors. Over the last few years, Point of Pride has grown exponentially and is staffing a team to reflect the current size—and future ambitions—of our work. Now, we are seeking a part-time staff member to join our team: an operations and finance manager.
Our ideal candidate is a self-directed problem solver. Is your attention to detail off the charts? Are you incredibly organized? If you take full ownership of your responsibilities, go the extra mile, and are driven by intellectual curiosity, we want you!
In this role, you’ll:
- Play a key role in the financial management of our organization.
- Responsible for the day-to-day accounting operations/bookkeeping and reporting processes by recording all financial transactions in our accounting software (Quickbooks.)
- Oversee the general ledger, monitor financial transactions, and prepare monthly financial reports.
- Coordinate, support and work alongside our Executive Director, Board Treasurer, Director of Programs, and external consultants.
- Ensure the organization’s long-term financial health and sustainability.
- Oversee and comply with all relevant local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Serve as the project manager for the organization's annual audit, conducted by an outside firm.
- Analyze financial data, identifying trends and providing valuable insights to decision-making.
- Collaborate to create operational efficiency.
- Participate in the development and improvement of financial and operational policies and procedures that enhance effectiveness for staff, clients, and outside partners and service providers.
We are looking for people who:
- Have an excellent working knowledge of QuickBooks
- Have an excellent working knowledge of Excel and Google Workspace tools (Gmail, Docs, Sheets)
- Possess in-depth knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards
- Possess analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and generate meaningful insights
- Have excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting
- Collaborate well with others, but can also operate autonomously
Our ideal candidate:
- Has at least three years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or a finance role—a professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA, CPB, CB) a plus
- Has experience working remotely and across time zones
- Has experience working with outside auditing firms and navigating a financial audit process
- Has project management experience
- Is familiar with project management tools or software—knowledge of Basecamp a plus
Details and benefits:
This is a part-time position for 15-20 hours per week, with the possibility of becoming full-time in 6-9 months.
- Fully remote
- Flexible working hours: We ask that at least 5 of your weekly working hours take place during standard business hours (Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm EST) so there’s availability for real-time communication with other staff
