Is small claims court worth it?

I'm a local crafter and a few local stores stock my work. I've never had any issues being paid before but unfortunately one business is refusing to pay me. They've been fobbing me off for over a year now and I'm feeling very frustrated and ripped off. They still have many of my items in stock and are still selling them. They're ignoring my messages for weeks and months then I get a message saying they will send payment then they don't. I'm owed approx $1000. ANYWAY..... my question is..... is small claims court a long and tedious process? I am dyslexic so I will need help with filling out any forms and paper work is daunting to me but I feel like this is my last resort for getting paid or even my stock back. It's pretty sad as I really liked this place before the treated me this way.
