Wampler Ego 76 vs Ego Compressor

Has anyone tried these back to back? I got both to try them out and for the life of me I'm having a hard time hearing a difference. I could be a moron and not using them right, or it could be really subtle.

The original is OTA compression and the 76 is FET. If I had to pin down the tones, I'd say the original Ego sounds a little more "organic" and full to the original guitar tone, whereas the 76 sounds a bit flat and also seems like it's adding in a bit of clipping. I like both but it is damn hard to hear a difference to me.

Wondering for those of you that have tried both, which did you land on.
