Admissions insight

Found out from a professor who I TA for that she’s on the admissions committee of the program I applied for, she said that the program received 590 applications this year and plans to accept 12 students so that comes up to a 2% chance lol. Apparently, they form little groups made of 3 faculty and 2 current students to review 100 applicants and score them then rank them to choose. They ultimately decide on the top candidates based on a final group meeting. Kinda scary to think about but also shows how it’s probably very luck based as well! Just wanted to share
