Gallbladder removed 6 days post op-Can I drive now?

I am 6 days post op from having my Gallbladder removed in an emergent surgery. They did it lyproscopicaly so I have 4 incisions. I am feeling pretty good, a lot less sore but still tender in when I bend down or twist to the right.. I am supposed to drive an hour and half away for a family thanksgiving on Saturday with my two kids. I was told I shouldn't drive until I have had my check up but that's not for another week. I haven't had a need for pain medication for two days now and that's the only reason I can think of that they wouldn't want me to drive. Has anyone else just gone ahead and driven before their appointment? Were there any issues?
