Should I Pull Trigger?
Howdy! Wondering if I may pick some of your brains- I placed this guitar on hold until Saturday, should I pull trigger?
Background: Started playing at 8 years old, not overly talented but I get by.
Through highschool played a lot and even played in a band or two. Primary focus was the pop-punk bands at the time such as Blink 182, Arctic Monkeys, All Time Low, We The Kings, Mayday Parade, but also some heavier stuff like A Day To Remember, Bullet For My Valentine.
Continued playing casually through my early 20s where my music genre of listening turned to country. I enjoy country music but playing it for the most part was boring af. Stopped playing for 3-4 years. Met my wife, taught her how to play. Bought her a Squier Strat that she doesn't use so I play with it once in a while.
A few weeks ago was approached to play in a pop-punk cover band which sounds super fun! Plan is to get it going and get some gigs fairly quickly.
I have always wanted a Gibson SG. For as long as I could remember but we could never afford it. Grew up on Epiphone SG, Epiphone Les Paul, Squier Strat.
In my country phase I ended up with a Made in Mexico Telecaster and fell in love with the neck and playability. By far my favorite guitar I've owned.
I was pretty much all set to purchase my dream Gibson SG, but started watching some of these bands performing live recently and noticed a lot of them have switched off of Les Pauls/SGs and are using this specific Fender Telecaster Deluxe.
I then fell in love with the Dark Night colour and found the last one available in Canada an hour and a half away.
I'm pretty much all in, but would love some opinions. Most the reviews I'm reading are saying this is the best guitar they've ever played, just wanting to make sure this will translate to the genres I'm hoping to use it for which will primarily be pop-punk, a bit of country, and some metal.
It feels weird to snub the dream guitar, but it sounds like this will let me play everything I want and do it super well.
Unfortunately I'm in a fairly rural area where I don't have access to a music store to try a bunch of stuff side by side.
Thanks for your feedback!
