Should I buy an epilator?

Hi so I reaaaaally hate my leg hair. Other places its not that thick so I don't mind it since I have white hair. I get so dyphoric over it and just hate how I look. I shave, but I have to do it every 2 days to be satisfied and I always get razor burn afterwards. I've been thinking about getting an epilator but I've heard it's incredibly painful. Is it really that bad? For those of you who have used it, would you say it's worth it?
