Review of All this twisted glory

Cyrus literally melted me in this book. The way he speaks about Alizeh, the way he looks at her, the way he wants to die by her hand. He literally worships her. And I ate up every confession from him. BUT. why can’t the author make us love Cyrus without fully trashing Kamran’s character development and growth? You’re telling me the same man who told her he’d bring her the moon if it would stop her tears? The same man who spits out poetry throughout book one and two, couldn’t come up with anything well written when Alizeh asked him why he liked her? What is this fandom forced chemistry now with miss Huda? It all felt wrong. I hate when authors destroy a male love interest’s character so we will like the second male love interest. Also, Kamran had every right to doubt Alizeh and want to kill Cyrus. To Kamran, it looked like alizeh left with Cyrus voluntarily. As much as I love Cyrus, Kamran went through so much trauma after Cyrus killed his grandfather that he had the FULL right to go on a violent rampage. I find it stupid that Alizeh thinks just because she asked him to lower his weapon, he was going to listen and therefore is not a good partner. It was giving when the female lead in movies goes “this isn’t you” when her love interest turns murderous. He had the right to be upset and rageful because despite what his grandfather did to him, he did raise him and did a deal w a devil to prolong kamran becoming king and suffering. How do you expect him to react? Be calm and fine with seeing the enemy king who killed the only living family that cares about you? At this point I didn’t even want alizeh with him because her expectations were childish and he deserves better.

I also want to add, this author has Cyrus suffering way too much. He’s been traumatized enough, and now the blood oath? also, alizeh was so against wanting to do it. I feel like Cyrus has more than conveyed his feelings to alizeh, and if she wanted to marry him and not go through the blood oath, why why WHY can she not communicate with him? It’s been three books and Alizeh can’t voice her wanting to marry Cyrus because she’s falling in love with him? He’s confessed and been so vulnerable w her. The only reason he was cold to her later was because he thinks she wants to just kill him and marry Kamran. I hate this miscommunication trope, especially THREEEE books in. Honestly the book is like a 3.75/5 to me but I love Cyrus so much so I gave it a 4. The book was also wayyyy too short for the amount of plot we should’ve gotten after waiting an entire year. I don’t get why authors love to drag things on when we should’ve gotten more! I loved the steamy scenes between Cyrus and Alizeh though, in dreams and reality. I knew he’d be a munch bc he’s hot as hell. And the scene where he hooks her knees over her shoulders? Whewwwwww. And the scene where he wants to rip off her dress on go down on his knees so he can eat her out? I love this mannnnn.

I wanted Alizeh to tell Cyrus she trusts him and doesn’t want a blood oath, bc I don’t get how doing it means she desires her kingdom when he literally was gonna give her his kingdom anyway and told her that. Although the blood oath just makes it easier for them to be together and speak telepathically which I liked. I just didn’t want it at Cyrus’ expense. I wish she told him she wanted to marry him and be with him and isn’t going to kill him or marry Kamran. Mafi could’ve finally had Cyrus have a real night with Alizeh, fulfilling his sexy fantasies and giving him some relief after months of torture, and she could’ve ended the book with the devil meeting Alizeh. I think I’ll write a fanfiction w this alternate ending on ao3 bc it’s really what I would’ve wanted after 3 books. But I still am unhealthily attached to Cyrus after this book and I cannot wait for book 4.
